[Research spire]
ASENCIA: They're coming. What have I done? No.
[Bridge]
JANEWAY: Red alert. Raise shields now!
[Research spire]
ILTHURAN: Gwyn, you're needed. Go.
[Protostar]
WESLEY: We've run out of time.
GWYN: Please, tell me this is all part of your grand master plan.
WESLEY: Ah, the tears in space-time must have grown too large and too noticeable.
DAL: You helped us create that thing up there. What did we do wrong?
WESLEY: The wormhole's quantum signature is correct. It'll lead us to the past on Tars Lamora. I was counting on us finishing the mission before the Loom found their way back.
POG: You're saying to close the loop and save our timeline, we need to send the Protostar through that mess?
WESLEY: Or else those things will keep pouring in until they erase Solum and Voyager and everything our lives have ever touched in the Prime Universe.
MAJ'EL: No autopiloting system is advanced enough to keep a ship on course through a swarm-infested wormhole.
CHAKOTAY: I'll fly it.
DAL: I may not know much about time travel, but we found this ship on Tars Lamora empty. What do you plan to do, eject mid-flight?
HOLO-JANEWAY: Voyager can follow the Protostar through. Once it's safe for autopilot, Voyager beams you out.
GWYN: That might work, except you're not going alone.
CHAKOTAY: Gwyn, this is no time to...
GWYN: Like Wesley said, we have to stay together.
JANEWAY [on screen]: If you point the way, Voyager will clear us a path through that nightmare.
[Bridge]
JANEWAY: No one faces this alone. Remodulate phasers to match the Loom's quantum variance. That should send them back to the dimension they came from. And set weapons to maximum.
[Solum]
(The Loom are hunting Vau N'Akat.)
ILTHURAN: Run! Get out of here!
VAU: Zel-thass.
ILTHURAN: May the stars protect them.
[Protostar]
ZERO: I hear them. I hear them all. And I sense an insatiable hunger.
CHAKOTAY: And we're traveling right down their throat. How are those temporal shields?
GWYN: 89 percent, but she's putting up a fight. Variance matches the wormhole.
CHAKOTAY: Good. All we have to do is keep her steady and stay the course. Mister Crusher, are you sure you want to do this? We can take it from here.
WESLEY: Oh, well, I set them on this path, and I will see them through.
MAJ'EL: Approaching the wormhole, Captain, in five... four... three...
[Bridge]
JANEWAY: Once more into the breach.
TYSESS: We've crossed the threshold.
JANEWAY: No turning back now.
EMH: There's just no end to them. Weapons are draining rapidly.
JANEWAY: Reroute auxiliary power to phasers. Whatever you do, just keep firing. Our future rides on it.
[Protostar]
DAL: You were right all along.
WESLEY: About what?
DAL: Us. Why we needed to be together. To get to this moment. This is the future you saw.
WESLEY: Oh Dal, I wasn't talking about now. The reason the universe needs you all together, that hasn't happened yet. Things yet to come. Wondrous and terrible things. But you'll have to wait and see.
[Bridge]
NOUM: Admiral, we've lost navigation.
JANEWAY: Not all navigation. Cetacean Ops. Plot us a course through that stormy weather.
[Cetacean ops]
GILLIAN: Acknowledged. Echelon formation.
[Protostar]
ZERO: We're through.
DAL: Oh, it's beautiful.
GWYN: Look.
WESLEY: Look, look, look, look. Those are temporal echoes. And that is what happens when the timeline is reintegrating. What was will be.
ROK: You said it, Murf.
GWYN: The past.
DAL: Tars Lamora.
ZERO: Yip, yip!
[Bridge]
JANEWAY: That's it. We're almost there.
[Protostar]
CHAKOTAY: Computer, set autopilot for the exit.
COMPUTER: Autopilot engaged.
HOLO-JANEWAY: It's time, isn't it?
CHAKOTAY: Not yet.
HOLO-JANEWAY: Not yet? When the kids find this ship, I can't have any memory of them, of the weapon on board, of you.
CHAKOTAY: Doctor?
EMH [on screen]: Yes. She just finished copying to our EMH backup module.
HOLO-JANEWAY: You found a way to save my programme.
CHAKOTAY: You gave me a second chance. Let me return the favour.
DAL: You're sticking around this time.
HOLO-JANEWAY: Well, then I suppose I'll see you on the other side. Computer, reset Janeway holo-programme.
CHAKOTAY: Now for the rest of us. Admiral, prepare to beam out.
ROK: She's just like how we found her.
DAL: Wait!
(Puts the comm-badge on the deck.)
DAL: Now we're ready.
CHAKOTAY: Admiral, ten to beam out.
DAL: Farewell, old friend, and thanks for the memories.
JANEWAY [OC]: To keep history intact, the ship must be exactly as it was when they found it on Tars Lamora.
[Recap]
HOLO-JANEWAY: I am hologram Janeway. Welcome aboard.
DAL: You're with us now.
GWYN: You made your choice, Father. Now I've made mine.
JANEWAY: I imagine you have questions. But after seeing everything you've accomplished, I have full confidence you'll find your way. Because together, your potential is infinite. Now, go boldly.
GWYN: We can share our gifts with the cosmos if we embrace the truth that we are not alone in the universe.
CHAKOTAY: Whenever you're feeling lost, it's best to find where you're needed most.
WESLEY: I'm Wesley Crusher, and I've been waiting for you.
ROK: Perhaps such things are only impossible until they are not.
JANEWAY: Boldness isn't only for the young. And when Starfleet is united, we can always overcome. On my mark, ready? Go fast.
[Tars Lamora]
DAL: How'd it get here? Where's the crew? You said it, big fella.
(Rok touches the comm-badge. The wormhole closes, the Loom leave.)
[Research spire]
ILTHURAN: They did it.
[Bridge]
TYSESS: All temporal incursions are gone.
WESLEY: We did it. The time loop is closed.
JANEWAY: It appears we just saved history.
(Gwyn's temporal stabiliser switches off.)
DAL: Your armband. Looks like you're here... for good.
JANEWAY [OC]: Admiral's personal log, stardate 62314.8. An old friend once said, We do not feel the passage of time, but the presence of time within us. We grow from what we leave behind as we reach for what lies ahead. In the trials we've endured, I've tried to impart such wisdom on the young Starfleet hopefuls in my crew. But I've discovered, to my surprise, they've still much to teach me. Time's importance lies in what you do with it. From humble beginnings to unknown possibilities, they've shown you must always go boldly towards the future. You may not arrive at the coordinates you set, but you'll find where you belong. And sometimes the space between us
isn't as far as we might think.
[Crusher home]
WESLEY [on PADD]: Hi, Mom.
CRUSHER: Wesley!
WESLEY [on PADD]: I'm sorry, I know it's been a while. I thought...
CRUSHER: Where are you?
WESLEY: I'm here, Mom. I'm here. The universe always needs me, and I don't know how long I can stay in this reality.
CRUSHER: Uh-uh. Before you disappear again, I want you to meet someone. Your brother.
JACK: Hi, what's your name?
[Sickbay]
EMH: This is the end. Oh, sorry, not for you. For my new holonovel.
JANEWAY [OC]: There are always new chapters ahead, even when you think your story has finished.
[Bridge]
TYSESS: Captain on the bridge.
CHAKOTAY: To new beginnings.
[Farm]
JANEWAY [OC]: As for my next chapter, I've delivered my papers for an early retirement. Because don't we all deserve a new beginning every now and then? If not, how would any of us grow?
[Academy]
MACDONALD: Go ahead. Throw those Temporal Mechanics 101 PADDs away. You'll never have to look at one again.
Because now we begin 201. I believe some students already have experience in this subject.
[Plaza]
(Happy First Contact Day)
GWY: Is it just me, or are we kind of a thing around here?
ZERO: We have earned quite a name for ourselves at the Academy.
POG: Jankom is practically royalty. Again!
GWYN: Couldn't agree more.
DAL: I used to always dream about going fast. But now, I like taking one step at a time, on the ground.
GWYN: Have you thought about what division track you want to be on?
DAL: Command. Still. I think. But there's a lot of possibilities I want to explore.
ROK: I heard Admiral Janeway first wanted to be a science officer.
DAL: Huh. Luckily, I think we have some time.
GWYN: Do not say that word. I'm over it after what we went through.
POG: Oh, boy. You're telling Jankom.
ROK: Urgh. No more time travel for me, thank you.
MAJ'EL: It was quite the profound shared experience.
(All comm-badges beep.)
DAL: What is it? What's wrong?
GWYN: That's Mars.
MAJ'EL: It's the Utopia Planitia shipyards. The new fleet was there. 20,000 vessels. Gone.
ROK: What's happening? What's this mean?
[Farm]
JANEWAY: Wasn't expecting to see you.
CHAKOTAY: Starfleet Command's been trying to reach you.
JANEWAY: I told them I don't want a promotion. I'm retired. Why? What is it?
CHAKOTAY: Mars was attacked.
JANEWAY: By who?
CHAKOTAY: Our own synths went rogue against us. We don't know why. All reserve officers are being called back.
The Federation needs you, Kathryn.
[Starfleet HQ]
JELLICO: Utopia Planitia's destruction is deeply felt. Our new fleet lost with immeasurable lives. Without synths, we're now short thousands of able hands across the Federation. And so, Starfleet Command has been asked to scale back operations and cease all exploration to focus on protecting our own planetary citizens.
JANEWAY: Admiral, I object. With all due respect, there's too much at stake to pull back now. The Romulan evacuation...
JELLICO: I have already informed Admiral Picard. He didn't take it well, to say the least. But we're down engineers, ships, resources. We don't even have enough com-badges to upgrade half the fleet. You have your orders.
JANEWAY: Orders? What about Starfleet's mission of peace across the galaxy? What remains if the Federation stops seeking new worlds, refuses to help those in need?
JELLICO: I'm afraid that future will have to wait, Admiral.
[Academy]
DAL: All classes suspended until further notice. For how long?
POG: With new orders from Starfleet, who knows what'll even be left?
GWYN: After everything we went through to get to this place.
ZERO: It was in our grasp. Now I feel like it may never be the same.
ROK: It's all so unfair.
MAJ'EL: And illogical.
JANEWAY [OC]: This is Admiral Janeway. Report to the shipyards immediately.
[Plaza]
JANEWAY: Thank you for coming. I know these are trying times for us all.
DAL: Wait, is that...?
JANEWAY: The new Protostar class. A noble experiment, sadly deemed impractical for anything but exploration.
CHAKOTAY: With officers in short supply, it's a shame Starfleet wants to decommission it.
JANEWAY: Which is why I've managed to call in a few favours. She'll fly in a new pilot programme under my command. I just need to feel good recruits.
POG: Pips? We're getting pips!
GWYN: We're ensigns?
JANEWAY: Starfleet ensigns. Field commission.
EMH: You don't have to steal this ship.
JANEWAY: You've earned it. In a time when the Federation's borders are receding, it's of utmost importance you are a beacon of light to those beyond our reach. To seek out allies and aid those left behind.
DAL: This is why Wesley wanted us all to stay together.
JANEWAY: Somehow, somewhere, you are going to make a great difference.
[USS Prodigy]
JANEWAY: We're not just giving you a free ship. You still have a lot to learn. Naturally, you'll need an instructor.
HOLO-JANEWAY: It's good to see you, all of you.
GWYN: You're coming with us.
HOLO-JANEWAY: The Protostar's been upgraded to a Starfleet training ship, and I'm now her Emergency Command Hologram.
EMH: Sentient Emergency Command Holograms, a term I created, by the way, are a rare breed.
CHAKOTAY: And you'll need all the help you can get.
HOLO-JANEWAY: You each have your own station, even one for our newest member. Most importantly...
DAL: There's two?
HOLO-JANEWAY: One for the acting captain, another for their number one.
DAL: You know, a good first officer is loyal, capable, and they keep their captain honest. Which is why I'll be right here as your number one.
GWYN: Dal, what are you saying?
DAL: I made a mistake, Gwyn. That chair never belonged to me. Others came before me. Others will follow. Now, it's your time to lead.
HOLO-JANEWAY: Once you sit in that chair, you'll know what to do. Everyone deserves a chance to prove where they belong, Captain.
(Later, in space...)
ROK: Awaiting your orders.
DAL: Proto-warp at the ready, Captain.
GWYN: Let's reach the stars.
ALL: Aye, aye, Captain.
